"Although the bulk of the events for Loreto Fest start on Friday, 30 April, there are also two official activities on Thursday.  A HAM test will be given in the morning, and we will run a Race Regatta starting about noon.  The Regatta will be a low key run from Puerto Escondido to the Candeleros and back, about 12 nm total distance and probably a light wind sail/cruise so the rules will be promulgated appropriately by the Race Chair, Ward on “Footloose”.  ward@baysailing.org

Loreto Fest is 3 days of fun, entertainment games, seminars, workshops and great food. Visit the “all new” HPYC web site at www.hiddenportyachtclub.com for more information and details about Loreto Fest and the activities.

Plan to be at the most happening cruiser and land event in the Sea of Cortez

Food galore, more food and being with new and old friends is how you would describe the HPYC Thanksgiving dinner. Ray "Adios" who thought we need a Thanksgiving dinner and  Roberta  "Peachy" arranged the day. Roberta did a great job with those that signed up organizing the dishes everyone was to bring. The costs of turkeys are quite high so the dinner was a pre sign up affair. The final count for dinner was over 60. Ray, served the Turkey, handled the setting up of tables the Barbeques to keep the turkeys warm, and the propane burner for Debbie "Aristocrat" to make the mashed potatoes. Fresh brewed coffee was available with desert. With the great serving set up and the draw of a card to send people through the line for food..... there was plenty of food and desert with second helpings and food left over. Every couple received a card one of the four suits, Spades, Diamonds, Clubs and Hearts when your suit was called those people with that suit went to the food tables. What a great idea, Ray!! Dinner was served when the last turkey arrived around 2:30 by 5:30 most were either ready to fall asleep or so full they could not move. Thank you Ray and Roberta,  and those that attended it was wonderful spending the day with you and for all the wonderful food you bought to share. I know this person will be wearing Thanksgiving for the next year.

October 2009:

At the last H.P.Y.C. meeting October 18th it was voted to change Sunday Brunch to the Sunday?, to be named yet, starting  at 3:30/4:00 P.M.  The first Sunday ? was held November 8th, 2009.

A costume Halloween party was planned for the 31st asking everyone to bring finger food to share and all were getting ready planning their costumes....... until the winds started 2 days before. It was decided to reschedule the party for the next evening giving everyone one more day to work on their party disguise. After the couple of days hold up with the wind the party was well attended and lasted till the last goblin and ghost faded away late in the night.

Commodore Don Beck "No Se" returned from the summer in the states calling for the first fall meeting of HPYC, 53 were in attendance. The meeting was held in conjunction with the ever popular Omelet Sunday Brunch. This is always a fun event. The omelets are cooked in Ziploc bags in boiling water.
